Albany Law School offers J.D. LL.M. LL.M. for Foreign Law Graduates, and M.S. in Legal Studies degrees, 14 concentrations and several joint degrees through accredited colleges and universities in the Capital Region.

A wide array of field placements, including internships through the Albany Law Clinic & Justice Center, Government Law Center, and Science and Technology Law Center, provide students essential hands-on learning.

Albany Law School of Union University has been training men and women to practice law for more than 150 years. Today our curriculum covers 14 areas of specialization. In addition, a wide array of field placements—including internships through the Albany Law School Clinic and Justice Center, Government Law Center, and Science and Technology Law Center—provide students with opportunities to develop the skills necessary to be a lawyer.

Albany Law School also offers the legal community the Master of Laws and Letters. This advanced degree provides attorneys with an opportunity to increase their knowledge in a particular area of law. Candidates may specialize in Government Administration and Regulation, Health Law, Intellectual Property, International Law, or may design their own 24-credit degree program. A second LL.M. program is designed to provide international law graduates with the academic background they need in order to qualify for admission to the New York or other state bar.

In addition to the J.D. and LL.M. degree programs, Albany Law offers a Master of Science in Legal Studies. This program is designed for the professional who could benefit from a better understanding of a specific area of law, but does not wish to practice law.

From your first day at Albany Law School, you will begin to learn to be a lawyer. Our unique Introduction to Lawyering—a required first-year course that teaches you to think and perform as a lawyer—is only the beginning. From simulation cases to a competitive Moot Court Program and an award-winning Clinical Legal Studies Program, our "hands-on" curriculum offers the experience you need to build professional skills for a lifetime of career success and achievement.

The Juris Doctor (J.D.) is a first-professional law degree awarded to a student who has successfully completed the study of law. Albany Law School offers three- and four-year programs leading to a J.D. degree.

Students earning a joint degree spend their first year at Albany Law School. The arrangement of the remaining three years is flexible. Students wishing to enroll in a joint degree program must meet the admissions requirements of each school.
