The American Bar Association (ABA) sponsors the Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Fund is intended to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school and to provide financial assistance for the scholarship recipients.
The Scholarship Fund will award $5000 of financial assistance to each scholarship recipient attending an ABA-accredited law school. Awards are renewable for two additional years, potentially resulting in financial assistance totaling $15,000 during a recipient s time in law school.
A scholarship application may be downloaded from the ABA website at www.ambar.org/DiversityScholarship. Completed scholarship applications must be received no later than March 2, 2015, and should be submitted to the ABA. #6th Circuit says Michigan tribe subject to federal labor laws
Credit Joe Gratz / flickr/creative commons
A federal appeals court says a northern Michigan Indian tribe does not get to set its own labor rules at the casino it operates near Manistee.
The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians claimed tribal sovereignty allowed it to adopt its own laws that ban strikes and discourage union organizing by casino employees. The Teamsters challenged the tribal act, and the union won before the National Labor Relations Board.
But the Little River Band says the board has no jurisdiction in this instance.
Not so, says the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. The court says Indian tribes are sovereign, but, with just a few exceptions, federal laws still apply to them. The court said the Indian Gaming Regularity Act was adopted by Congress to help tribes with economic development.
“It does not, however, immunize the operation of Indian commercial gaming ent

#4 things you should know about Utah gun laws
SALT LAKE CITY In the weeks since the Sandy Hook massacre, where 20 children were killed at a Connecticut elementary school, the rhetoric around the nation has been about safety and gun control, including laws that allow Americans to carry a firearm.
The U.S. Constitution clearly spells out that American citizens have the "right to keep and bear arms" and that those rights "shall not be infringed." The Utah Constitution further defines the right to bear arms as a means for "security and defense of self, family, others, property, or the state, as well as for other lawful purposes" and that those rights "shall not be infringed."
However, the types of "arms" allowed assault weapons has been debated ad nauseum in recent weeks.
More recently, a man was photographed at a Utah JCPenney store Wednesday openly carrying an semi-automatic rifle over his shoulder. While not illegal in the state of Utah, many shoppers were co

#What is the Difference Between an Attorney a Paralegal and a Lawyer?
One common area of confusion for those outside the legal profession is the difference between various job titles among legal professionals. After all, in many jurisdictions there are now paralegal firms that offer services that to some might seem similar to what an attorney can do. So what is the difference between an attorney and a paralegal, an attorney and a lawyer, and other legal professionals?
Attorney vs. Paralegal
The biggest distinctions between attorneys and paralegals are education and licensing. To be an attorney, one must attend and graduate from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school (in most cases obtaining a juris doctorate degree); undergo a rigorous background screening by the state in which he or she intends to practice; and take and pass a grueling licensing test called the bar exam designed to determine if the attorney is minimally competent in the majo

#1 Corinthians 9: 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.
To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.
When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ. When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under that law. Even though I am not subject to the law, I did this so I could bring to Christ those who are under the law.
To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.

#3 Bad Reasons to Get an MBA - US News
Don't apply to business school just to bolster your resume.
There are many reasons why an MBA degree is a great way to turbocharge your career, and this blog has covered several of them. But there are also bad reasons for going to business school. These three should not be your motives for contemplating getting an MBA.
1. You're unsure what else to do. Perhaps you are feeling pressured to go for the degree by well-meaning family or friends. Or, maybe you’re just a little too excited about the partying and social events that abound at business schools.
At the dawn of the financial crisis, many young professionals turned their thoughts toward business school as the job market grew increasingly unstable. This is an understandable rationale, but taking a two-year break as a placeholder activity doesn’t make a lot of sense professionally or financially. A better bet would be to take time to travel the world and find

#Why Spending $150K On An MBA Is Probably A Dumb Idea
Follow Comments Following Comments Unfollow Comments
I feel conflicted about MBAs. On one hand, I get that the conceptual and analytical tools that form the bulk of most MBA programs are very useful to someone who wants to operate a business. On the other hand, I know way too many MBAs who can’t manage or lead their way out of a paper bag – and still think they’re the bomb because…well, because they have an MBA.
I just read an article on MBAs and their merits by a guy named Todd Tauber. Todd is fan of MBAs, and basically argues that the current vogue for dissing MBAs among young entrepreneurs is misguided. Interestingly, although he acknowledges that MBAs may be outdated and less useful for the 21st century than they need to be, he also proposes that they’re being fixed even as we speak, that the B-Schools “get it,” and are in the process of making MBAs relevant.
Uh-huh. I’ve been hearing that for a long

#5 Supreme Court Cases Entrepreneurs Should Watch
When does affirmative action apply?
The case: Fisher v. Texas
The issue: Abigail Fisher contends that when she applied to the University of Texas at Austin in 2008, she was rejected on the basis of race that she was white. Up until now, federal courts have upheld a school's right to deny admission based on race, most recently in 2003 with Grutter v. Bollinger. a case which arose from a similar situation at the University of Michigan Law School. There, the court found that the constitution "does not prohibit the law school's narrowly tailored use of race in admissions decisions to further a compelling interest in obtaining the educational benefits that flow from a diverse student body." Though Fisher v. Texas does not seek to overrule Grutter v. Bollinger. Fisher wants UT to "properly apply the Supreme Court's principles that require using race-neutral alternatives firs

#William Mitchell law school first to offer ABA-approved online degrees.
A Minnesota law school will become the first in the country to allow students to earn their degrees largely from home, with the blessing of the American Bar Association.
On Wednesday, William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul plans to announce its new hybrid option: Students will spend only a week or two on campus each semester, and take the rest of their classes online.
It s the first such program at a fully accredited law school. And depending on whom you ask, it s a risky, or a long overdue, venture that could shake up the tradition-bound halls of legal education.
It moves them slightly forward into the 21st century, said Robert Oliphant, a professor emeritus at William Mitchell who supports online teaching. Law schools are about the last institutions in the world to try to change. They re just very stuck in the mud.

Every state but California requires lawyers to graduate from an accredited law school and to pass the bar exam. In California, however, 60 college credits and 864 hours per year of correspondence law classes (not accredited) enable you to qualify to take the bar. After practicing law in California for five to seven years, you can then sit for the bar in other states.
While none are accredited (and thus not useful except in California), there are online law schools. Some of the better known schools include Concord Law School and the Abraham Lincoln University School of Law (see resource list for more).

#5 Questions to Ask When Choosing an MBA Entrepreneurship Program - US News
How a program integrates hands-on learning opportunities into the curriculum can vary, experts say.
Attending business school has traditionally been a way to advance in the ranks of an established company, but recently more students are electing to work for themselves soon after getting their degree.
Forty-five percent of alumni entrepreneurs from the classes of 2010-2013 started businesses at graduation, as compared with just 7 percent of alumni entrepreneurs who graduated before 1990, according to a March report from the Graduate Management Admission Council.
Many students in MBA programs select entrepreneurship as their focus to better prepare themselves for being employers, investors, inventors and other necessary roles that keep the world of entrepreneurship spinning.

As the global marketplace grows increasingly complex, professionals want to gain a diverse skillset, allowing them to thrive in diverse, rapidly-evolving environments. As a result, more and more people are pursuing dual degrees, including JD/MBAs.
I received my JD/MBA from Harvard University several years ago, and I have found it to be extremely worthwhile. As an entrepreneur, I rely on both my business and law education daily. However, this dual degree is not right for everyone, and you need to carefully consider it before making this investment.

#5 ways to put a law degree to work
FORTUNE Dear Annie: Last spring, I graduated from a good law school and, all these months later, I still can’t seem to get hired by a law firm in my (fairly large) city. Most of them seem to be shrinking, not growing, and the informational interviews I’ve had so far have been interesting mainly because they’re so negative. Even some partners at big firms have told me “off the record” that getting ahead in the profession has been both boring and grueling, a really bad combination, and I should find something else to do with my life. The question is what. Do you or your readers have any ideas about how I should broaden my job search? I’d still like to use my law degree if possible, especially since I went into debt to get it. No Name, Please
Dear N.N.P.: When I put your question to Mark Newall, a senior vice president at Boston-based Keystone Associates Legal, he said your jaded interviewees have

Instead, the time for online learning for medical students has arrived, said Patterson, and a core group of Stanford medical professors, education technology specialists and collaborators from the Khan Academy who are working toward that future.

#9 books that new law students should read
Courtesy of John Althouse Cohen on flickr
As a professor of law, I am naturally biased in favor of my profession.
Notwithstanding the naysayers, law students and lawyers commit to the pursuit of justice against obstacles that yield only to the keenest and, one hopes, most ethical minds.
Yet the study of law is in large part a matter of reading.
Lots of reading.
But not all legal reading need be as dry as a prospectus or as weighty as a Supreme Court ruling. Much of the law can be absorbed through great literature and thoughtful nonfiction. Indeed, I suggest that newly minted law students spend the summer before their classes begin with the following nine works (roughly one a week) as preparation for entering what remains the noblest of professions.
Whether you're a soon-to-be law student or a citizen interested in better understanding our justice system, you could do worse than to spend this

#8 Stanford Men Vied For Glory. She Didn t. Guess Who Won?

Something surprising just happened at Stanford Law School. In this year’s graduating class, eight men and one woman vied to be this year’s commencement speaker. Each male tried to position himself as the rightful leader of the class. The female candidate never did so. And yet, when the 180-person graduating class was done voting, she won.
How did Marta Belcher pull it off? The story of how she outwitted her rivals would make a lovely logic puzzle. See if you can figure it out, based on the following hints.
Belcher has a deep interest in the way ideas get shared, developed and protected. Most recently, she’s been an intern at the Electronic Frontier Foundation. which champions file sharing, open-source software and free speech online. She’s held summer jobs at Apple and the Ropes Gray law firm, related to intellectual property issues.

#12. 4 Ampere s Law
12.4 Ampere's Law
Physicists conclude that electrostatics can be described by the two conditions: E = 0, E =.
No sources or sinks of Magnetic Field lines; and Ampere's Law.
We can immediately translate the statement that magnetic fields have no sources or sinks into the statement: B = 0, since, (again by the divergence theorem,) we know that sources and sinks correspond to non-vanishing divergence.
You are probably familiar with the Biot-Savart Law which describes the magnetic field produced by an electrical current element.
Ampere's Law states that, for constant current flow, the flux of electrical current through a surface is proportional to the line integral of the magnetic field (counterclockwise) around its boundary:
Stokes' Theorem, applied to B, gives
Upon combining these two we obtain, for any surface S :

International Trade Law Guide

Last Updated July 28,
International trade is a complicated area of law to research because there are numerous levels of trade organizations and interactions. There are bilateral trade agreements, regional trade agreements and multinational trade agreements. Each of these agreements has its own history, policies and dispute settlement procedures. Trade organizations established under the agreements have separate resources that can be searched. Furthermore, individual countries have their own policies and laws relating to international trade. As an example, the United States Congress must pass legislation enacting international trade agreements before the United States can officially become a party. The national policies have to be researched individually and frequently separately from the resources relating to the international organizations.

#9 frequently asked questions about common-law unions

1. What if I want the rights of a married couple but I don’t want the certificate or the whole wedding thing?
Some provinces allow you to register your coupledom as a “civil union” or a “domestic partnership.” In Nova Scotia, for example, you just fill out a form for $22.68 and get the same rights as married couples under the law. If the relationship goes to crap, a Statement of Termination costs $30.29. (How cold would that be? A Dear John letter accompanied by three tens and three dimes.)

What is common-law for insurance or tax purposes might be different from the family law definition. To be considered a common-law spouse in the eyes of the law, a couple must be in a marriage-like relationship and live together for a certain period of time. That period, in Ontario and New Brunswick

#85 Stanford Law graduates try to co-author the perfect commencement speech

#10 Scientific Laws and Theories You Really Should Know
Introduction to Top 10 Scientific Laws and Theories You Really Should Know
Scientists have many tools available to them when attempting to describe how nature and the universe at large work. Often they reach for laws and theories first. What's the difference? A scientific law can often be reduced to a mathematical statement, such as E = mcВІ; it's a specific statement based on empirical data, and its truth is generally confined to a certain set of conditions. For example, in the case of E = mcВІ, c refers to the speed of light in a vacuum.
A scientific theory often seeks to synthesize a body of evidence or observations of particular phenomena. It's generally -- though by no means always -- a grander, testable statement about how nature operates. You can't necessarily reduce a scientific theory to a pithy statement or equation, but it does represent something fundamental about how nature works.

Both the Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action are workplace policies that seek to reduce discrimination in business. The United States federal government instituted both programs in an effort to encourage diversity in corporate hiring and promotion. However, the programs differ in their goals, requirements and administration methods.
The Equal Employment Opportunity law requires that employers evaluate all job applicants fairly, without using their race, ethnicity, sex, age, religion or physical disability as a means for discrimination against them. Once a worker is hired, the Equal Employment Opportunity Act also mandates that employers extend job training and promotions equally to him, regardless of any physical differences or personal beliefs he may possess.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or EEOC, enforces the Equal Employment Opportunity in workplaces across the United States. This law applies to most companies that employ at least 15

Is your sex life against the law? Better make sure. We've painstakingly compiled a map of all the most biarre and unnecessary laws regulating what you do, with whom, and where. Check out our complete map of all the weirdest laws regulating sex in America below.
You've probably seen lists of freaky sex laws before — they're all over the place. And guess what? Most of those are urban legends.
When you see laws like It's illegal for one partner to reach climax before the other, or It's illegal to have a sheep in the cab of your truck without a chaperone, or Only sex in the missionary position is legal, or No sex in an ambulance responding to an emergency call, or No dancing with a hat on , or No sex in a meat freezer, or Legistators may not make laws wearing a penis costume, they're probably just made up or grossly distorted. #Adoption Lawyers - Adoption Attorney and Law Firm Directory
Find Adoption Lawyers by State
Adoption Lawyers
Adoption law falls under Family Law and is mainly governed by the states in which the parent and child live. Adoption law requires adoption lawyers to establish a process by which a legal parent-child relationship is created between individuals who are not biologically parent and child. The biological parent gives up all parental rights and obligations, and these rights and obligations are assumed by the adoptive parents.
These days there are a lot more options available to adoption lawyers for the adoption process. Adoptive families can adopt a child much easier than ever before. For example, as an adoptive parent, you can choose a closed adoption where the parents remain anonymous, or opt for the increasingly common open adoption where you actually meet and can maintain contact with the birth parents.
Your adoption lawyer can help you ad

I m sure you are right that there are a combination of factors. Still, I think there is probably a tipping point somewhere. I m sure some candidates simply cannot relocate to attend a T4 school, so they attend a distance learning school, but I imagine many of those students at a DL school performed poorly on the LSAT.
It s been a while since I looked, but I think even Cal Western students have an average LSAT of over 150. In my state, I don t think you have to be that smart to pass the bar, so I can t imagine someone who gets 165 on the LSAT has a much better chance of passing the bar than someone who scored 155. There must be a tipping point though.
Total assumption here. but in a state with a bar passage rate of 85%, you probably see something like this

#Online Master - s Degree, Department of Crop Sciences
Simply registering for an online course does not indicate progress towards the M.S. degree. M.S. candidates must have a BS degree in Crop Sciences or a related biological, physical, or agricultural field. In addition, coursework in mathematics, chemistry, biological sciences, and introductory crop and soil sciences is required. Deficiencies in these areas may require additional coursework. A student must possess a minimum grade point average of B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) computed from the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework to be admitted to the Graduate College. Post-baccalaureate coursework is also considered. Students with marginally less than a B grade point may, in some instances, be accepted on a limited status basis. The decision to accept limited status students is dependent upon professional experience, letters of reference, and grades received in online Crop Sciences courses completed prior to application. Those same setup routines are present in iBEC and iBSS. which is why they can be launched directly from DFU Mode .
LLB can be disassembled in a similar manner to the one described for iBoot. The base address for LLB 5.1 is 0x84000000 and the disassembly should yield the following:
LLB and iBoot likely share a common code base, as is evident by similar symbols and strings for the FTL, Image_Load, and others. LLB is specialized, however, to load iBoot, which it does by looking for the Img3 tagged "ibot", as can be seen here:
If iBoot cannot be found, LLB instructs the i-Device to identify itself as Apple Mobile Device (DFU Mode):
Restoring or flashing an LLB patched with Pwnage or 0x24000 Segment Overflow can lead to these changes:

The amendments were made under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. The amendments can only be used to deal with stalking incidents that occur after 25th November 2012; stalking prior to this will still be dealt with as harassment under sections 2 and 4 of the Protection from Harassment Act.
There are two new amendments; section 2A stalking and section 4A stalking. To prove a section 2A it needs to be shown that a perpetrator pursued a course of conduct which amounts to harassment and that the particular harassment can be described as stalking behaviour. Stalking is not legal
