One of “America s Best Colleges”Creighton University again earned the top spot in U.S. News World Report magazine s college rankings for Midwest Regional Universities. This is the 12th year in a row the University has earned the No. 1 ranking in “America s Best Colleges” edition. Creighton was also named among 32 universities in the nation in “Academic Programs to Look For” under Undergraduate Research/Creative Projects. This recognizes universities where students working independently or in small teams, mentored by a faculty member, do intensive and self-directed research or creative work that results in an original scholarly paper or other product that can be formally presented on or off campus. ‘Best Online Programs’ for 2015Several Creighton University online programs have been ranked in the nation’s Top 20 for their respective categories in the fourth annual U.S. News World Report 2015 Best Online Programs . The Creighton online program categories recognized are: No. 16 in Best Online Bachelor’s Programs (B.S. in Leadership ); No. 12 in Best Online Graduate Business Programs (Master of Business Intelligence and Analytics and Master of Security Analysis and Portfolio Management ); and No. 11 in Best Online Graduate Education Programs (M.S. in Educational Leadership and M.S. in School Counseling and Preventive Mental Health ). “This recognition is a testament not only to the growing prestige of our online offerings but also to our faculty and staff’s commitment and diligence in making these programs top-tier academic initiatives,” said Creighton Provost Edward R. O’Connor, Ph.D. “ Online Programs Earn High U.S. News Rankings for VeteransCreighton’s online bachelor’s degree program was ranked 15th, the online graduate business programs (excluding MBA) were ranked 12th and the online graduate education programs also ranked 11th, all out of 737 programs providing veterans with high-quality, flexible online education options. This is the third year U.S. News and World Report has issued rankings for Best Online Programs for Veterans. To qualify for the Best Online Programs for Veterans rankings, an online degree program had to report participation in two key programs that offer educational benefits to people with military service. The rankings methodology requires programs to belong to institutions that are certified for the G.I. Bill and must also belong to schools participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program or to public institutions that charge in-state tuition for all out-of-state veterans. “Colleges that Pay You Back” 2015Creighton University is among the 200 colleges and universities profiled in Princeton Review’s new, “Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Best Value Colleges” and “What It Takes to Get In.” This book is an expansion of Princeton Review’s annual “Best Value Colleges.” Creighton ranked No. 23 in the section on schools that make an impact. The 25 schools on the “Best Schools for Making an Impact” list were selected based on student ratings and responses to the survey questions covering community service opportunities at their school, student government, sustainability efforts and on-campus student engagement. Also taken into account was PayScale.com’s percentage of alumni from each school that reported that they had high job meaning. “They are always willing to talk outside of class and offer suggestions about subjects of study that might make what is learned in the classroom more interesting and applicable to the individual,” said one student about the faculty at Creighton. “It’s clearly evident they are passionate about their subjects and genuinely care about the success of their students.” Best Dispute Resolution ProgramThe Werner Institute at the Creighton University School of Law is ranked 14th in the 2016 U.S. News and World Report rankings for Best Dispute Resolution Programs. The ranking puts Creighton s program on a footing with similar programs at Harvard University, Northwestern University and Georgetown University. As an interdisciplinary program guided by Ignatian values in settling conflict, the Werner Institute offers a cutting-edge approach to dispute resolution, said Patrick Borchers, J.D. professor of law and director of the Institute. Rankings were based on nominations and votes from legal educators across the nation. Founded in 2005, thanks to a generous gift from the family of Creighton University alumna Gail Werner Robertson, the Werner Institute offers a Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution and a Graduate Certificate in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. Classes are available both in-person on the Creighton campus and online. One of the “Best Colleges of 2015”Princeton Review again listed Creighton University as one of the nation s top 379 colleges and universities in its 2015 edition of the annual college guide. Creighton is ranked 39 in the top 100 list of private universities appearing in the December 2014 issue. Kiplinger’s assesses quality according to measurable standards, including the admission rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include sticker prices, financial aid and average debt at graduation.
