The new curriculum requires that students get on-the-ground experience in the law before graduation. Gonzaga Law has made a commitment to helping students succeed both during and after law school. The classic program of legal study that takes 36 months, split into three traditional academic years, with summers open for internships, externships, or taking a few extra classes.

The Accelerated J.D. program compresses the full 90 credit requirement for a Gonzaga J.D. degree into 24 calendar months. It s the same education as the traditional program, with less vacation time. To ensure that students get the same experiential component, Accelerated students are required to fulfill 12 credits of internship or externship experience.

There are three dual degree options for students pursuing a J.D. degree at Gonzaga Law. In cooperation with Gonzaga University School of Business, Master of Accountancy and Master of Business Administration degrees are available. In cooperation with Eastern Washington University, a Master of Social Work dual degree is also available.

Well-qualified students that have an international undergraduate degree in law have the option of a specially-designed 15 month program that provides a full J.D. degree in 15 months. This program prepares students to take the bar exam in any state.

Students who earned their undergraduate degree from an international university or college in any degree area other than law may apply for admission to Gonzaga Law as J.D. students in the Three Year Traditional or Accelerated Two Year J.D.

Students that are currently pursuing their legal education at another institution may apply for transfer to Gonzaga University School of Law, where your legal education can be completed in our welcoming community and rigorous, experience-based curriculum. Credits from your previous institution may transfer in accordance with the transfer credit policy.

Gonzaga School of Law may admit visiting students who are currently enrolled in a law school, and plan to transfer credits back to their home law school for graduation.

The faculty at Gonzaga Law School are some of the finest teachers and scholars in the country. They bring to the classroom a wealth of knowledge and practical experience, having worked in law firms, as public defenders, as government lawyers, as litigators, as transactional lawyers, and as judicial clerks. The faculty are committed to training students to be practice-ready, and their curriculum and classroom techniques serve as a model for law schools across the country.

The new curriculum, introduced in and lauded as innovative by preLaw Magazine. reinforces skills training while promoting professionalism throughout the curriculum. Every course integrates with the core values of imparting knowledge, professionalism and skill enhancement. The four-term legal research and writing program prepares you for the work you will be doing as a lawyer, and the experiential learning requirement and lab classes challenge students to hone their skills while facing professional problems they will likely experience in their careers.

Gonzaga University School of Law expects every student to succeed. To that end, several programs have been put in place to help students during and after their time at Gonzaga Law. The Academic Resource Program provides additional tutoring and academic assistance if necessary or desired. The Alumni Mentoring Program partners practicing alumni with students, giving them an inside view of their chosen profession. The Center for Professional Development is available as early as students first year to help arrange internships and professional networking opportunities. Externships, both locally and as distance learning, give students a chance to work in the legal world while finishing their education.
