  • Nelson writes opinion piece for CNN on Charleston shootings Professor Eboni Nelson penned an op-ed for CNN.com about the shootings at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C. In it, she recounts her personal connection to the church, and implores us to refuse to allow the tragic events of June 17 divide us along racial lines. Learn more
  • Said's new book, Crimes of Terror now available Prof. Wadie Said 's new book, Crimes of Terror . was published in May 2015 by Oxford Press. The book provides a comprehensive and uniquely up-to-date dissection of the U.S. government's advantages over suspects in criminal prosecutions of terrorism, which are driven by a preventive mindset that purports to stop plots before they can come to fruition.   • Chambliss helping shape the future of the legal profession Professor Elizabeth Chambliss recently attended a series of meetings aimed at shaping the future of the legal profession, and exploring access to justice issues. She serves on the ABA Commission on the Future of Legal Services, which held its national summit in May. She also participated in the Civil Legal Aid Research Workshop at the U.S. Department of Justice. Learn more
  • Law School alum elected chief justice of S.C. Supreme Court Costa Pleicones, a 1968 graduate of the USC School of Law, was unanimously elected chief justice of the S.C. Supreme Court by the state's general assembly on May 27, 2015. Pleicones has been an associate justice since 2000. He will be sworn in on Jan. 1, 2016, succeeding his former classmate Jean Hoefer Toal, who has held the chief justice position since 2000. Learn more
  • Miller helped create "Serial" podcast spin-off, "Undisclosed" Prof. Colin Miller is one of the principal players behind a new podcast, "Undisclosed: The State v. Adnan Syed," that has been called a spin-off of the immensely popular public radio podcast "Serial."   • ABA Real Property Journal to publish 50th volume

    The ABA Real Property, Trust Estate Law Journal. which boasts the nation's second largest circulation for a scholarly legal journal, publishes its 50th volume this spring. It also celebrates 25 years of calling the University of South Carolina School of Law its home. Learn more
